Join us as Engineering Manager – People & Department Leadership
Are you passionate about developing people and building thriving engineering teams? At Kongsberg Digital, we’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and inspire a department of around 25–30 talented software engineers—ranging from juniors to seniors.
This role is primarily about people leadership: helping engineers grow, ensuring the right talent is in the right place, and cultivating a department where careers can flourish. You will focus on:
- Having meaningful career conversations with engineers to guide their growth.
- Building an environment where individuals feel empowered, motivated, and supported.
- Identifying strengths and matching talent with the right teams and challenges.
- Collaborating closely with product and technology leaders to align people with business needs.
- Nurturing a strong, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
We operate in a matrix organization, and you’ll play a key role in ensuring engineering resources are allocated effectively. While you’ll collaborate with technical and product leadership, your main focus will be developing people and leading a department to success.

You have…
• Relevant degree and a proven track record of at least 5 years as a people leader within a software development environment.
• Strong understanding of software development processes and
methodologies.
• Experience with performance management and employee development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
• Robust and able to handle difficult conversations while creating psychological
safety.
• Ability to provide honest and balanced feedback.
• Be a good representative of the company leadership, and be able to balance a
good relationship with the employees while simultaneously looking after the
company's best interests
This role will be based in our HQ in Lysaker, Oslo, and will report to the VP of Engineering.
